Participation in a peace forum

MUHURI Thursday participated in a peace forum organized by Kiunga Youth Bunge and interfaith members led by the Lamu County Peace Chairman, Bishop Kamau at the county commissioner’s office in Mokowe.
While addressing the county security council, Mr. Rono and Interfaith members demanded an urgent collaboration with security to eradicate and address drivers of conflicts, including post-election tensions, farmers and pastoralist conflicts, fast-tracking issuance of Identity cards, immediate investigation and action of the recent police brutality and calming inter-religious tensions.
#MUHURI demanded a quick establishment of police posts at Kiangwe and Basuba to enhance access to justice and prevent citizens from taking the law into their hands.
We are delighted that the #Lamu County Commissioner committed to uniting the stakeholders and resources to ensure the #safety, #peace, and #security in Lamu County are met and guaranteed to the residents and visitors.
