The Board of MUHURI is pleased to welcome Prof. Hassan Mwakimako as its member.

Mwakimako is an associate professor of Philosophy and Religious Studies at Pwani University, Kilifi. He has over 20 years of university teaching and research.

He has worked closely with international development partners on areas of religion, youth, radicalization, aspects of violent extremism (VE), Countering Violent Extremism (CVE,) and on effects of marginalization on minority communities of the Coast. He has investigated broadly issues concerning electoral democracy and religion.

Mwakimako is a popular figure in the media, always shaping public opinion through comments on political issues, though print and broadcast outlets.
