Winnie Maina Kahindi has joined MUHURI Board, effective today.
Kahindi is an advocate of the High Court and has experience in election and governance, women and land rights, Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR), and counselling. She has advocated for women, children, and youth rights by litigating for the public good.
Kahindi is also a guru in the maritime sector, having studied Maritime Security Law and Maritime Sector and Blue Economy. At the Kenya Maritime Authority (KMA), she pushed for policies friendly to women and youth. Additionally, she worked at the Association for Women in the Maritime Sector in Eastern and Southern Africa (Womesa).
The new director has had a stint at FIDA-Kenya, a women rights movement that campaigns against sexual gender-based violence (SGBV) via extensive policy advocacy. She has further consulted for international development partners like ActionAid.
Kahindi will be a valuable addition to the Board.
